Fardeen to cast sister in remake of Qurbaani

Fardeen Khan's sister Laila Khan Rajpal has stayed away from the arc lights so far. But she could soon be seen in a remake of Qurbaani.The buzz is that Fardeen, who is planning a sequel of the hit classic, might cast his sister too.

Sanjay Dutt was earlier approached for the film, which will go on the floors soon. Though Laila had claimed she was not averse to "good roles".It seems Qurbaani Part 2 might herald her Bollywood debut after all these years.

Esha is Kent RO's new brand ambassador

Bollywood actress Esha Deol is now the new brand ambassador of water purifying systems manufacturer Kent RO, joining her mother Hema Malini and sister Ahana.

"I endorse a product only if I believe in it. Being a fitness freak I drink a lot of water. Hence my association with Kent RO seemed ideal," said Esha at a press conference Saturday where Kent's tie up with IndianOil was announced.

"Access to pure drinking water is a grave problem in a country like India. I myself drink less cold drinks and more water. Similarly I want Indian people to get pure drinking water and enjoy a healthy life," Esha told on Saturday.

With Esha joining the brand ambassador brigade that already encompasses Hema Malini and Ahana, Kent has shot a new television commercial with them.

"Signing Esha as the new brand ambassador along with Hema Malini and Ahana Deol is with a vision of making each family a 'healthy and happy family'," said Mahesh Gupta, managing director of Kent RO.

On Esha's association with Kent, Hema Malini said, "I am very happy with Esha's decision of endorsing Kent as she represents the youth. Water is the base of life and I want everyone to have clean water."

To make the most during the World Cup season the company has also come up with a new advertising campaign, which was launched by meditation guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

"Water is an inimitable gift of nature and for pure living you need pure water," Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said.

The water purification market size is hitting 500,000 units per year, i.e. around Rs.6-7 billion in the organised sector.

Thanks to the tie-up with IndianOil, Kent RO will be able to use the oil giant's widespread reach with dealers and retailers.

"The strategic tie-up will provide a new and added thrust to the growth of the retail business plan for both the companies. It would also endow newer footprints into virgin markets for Kent RO, particularly in semi-urban and rural sector where IndianOil/Indane has a huge presence," said Mrinal Roy, executive director, IndianOil (LPG).

To meet the growing demand for water purifiers, which is anticipated due to the strategic tie up with Indian Oil, Kent RO has put up a new manufacturing plant in Roorkee.

"The new plant will start operating in April. It will manufacture 100,000 units per year in addition to the existing manufacturing capacity of 60,000 units per annum," confirmed Gupta

Ranbir Kapoor rides bicycle to promote pollution free environment

Ranbir Kapoor ride a cycle here on Tuesday to spread awareness about the benefits of a pollution free environment. The 'Green Planet Bicycle Riders Association', a voluntary organisation promoting awareness of environment protection and global warming, sponsored the event.

Ranbir Kapoor joined other cyclists, thereby suggesting that others cycle at least for short-distances to help save energy and improve their health.

"Our universe is going through global warming. Petroleum and other fuels are causing pollution, so whatever we can do to protect our health, our planet and to save greenery should be done. I believe cycling is a great mode of transportation. I completely encourage it. It not only helps in maintaining good health but also saves our planet," said Kapoor.

Ranbir was shooting for his forthcoming film Rajneeti in the city. Film director Prakash Jha also took a cycle ride.

"Our universe is facing the brunt of energy consumption. So I believe this first initiative to promote greenery via cycling is a great effort. If most of the people would walk or cycle or use no-fuel consumption vehicle, it would be great help in saving our planet," said Jha.

"It is a serious issue for sure, but let’s not make Saif feel as if his world has come to an end. We are adults and are fully aware of our job’s advantages and pitfalls.

The stakes are high, so are the stress levels. And yes, sometimes the workload does get a bit more than a handful — meetings, shootings, press conferences, travelling, odd sleeping hours and Fridays.

More than me, my family is always worried about my health. I have been trying to cut down on smoking for a while now.

As for my other habits, I don’t drink, have very simple eating habits and work out to strengthen my back whenever time permits.

I don’t waste my time getting depressed or attached to good things. Material things are not important — most important are prayers to Allah, and my biggest stress busters are my babies."
