Script writer threatens to sue Priyadarshan

Madhu Muttam, who wrote the script for Malayalam blockbuster movie `Manichithrathazhu' has threatened to sue director Priyadarshan and the T-Series production company, who are remaking the film in Hindi without his permission.

At a press conference here, Madhu Muttam said the case against the Tamil and Kannada re-makes of the film was going on in the High Court. In Tamil, the Rajani-starrer `Chandramukhi' based on the story was also a big hit.

The script writer said, the High Court had agreed that he owned the copyright of the story. In this context, legal notices had been sent to Priyadarshan and T-Series, which was producing the film in Hindi.

However, the T-Series company and Priyadarshan were going ahead with the production activities without replying to the notices, he said.

"Priyadarshan, who had shot a few portions of the movie `Manichithrathazhu' directed by Fazil, should be knowing my contribution to the film. Now he is `shamelessly' saying that he would change the story to suit Bollywood," Madhu Muttam said.
